Please see the Calendar for information on two upcoming archery events.
We will shoot the flat course and both 3D courses. This will be a fun event with a focus on meeting people, shooting together, and getting equipment ready for the coming season. Expert help will be available, along with a bow press, tuner, and tools to get your bow and arrows in shape!
We have a date for our first High Power match at Machias; it's hard to believe it’s been over a year! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 3rd, 2021.
Check in at the clubhouse from 08:00 AM to 09:00 AM. Firing will commence at 09:30
This match will be a 3 x 20, plus 2 sighters, with an unlimited sighting period prior to relay #1. ShotMarker electronic targets will be used, so bring your tablets. A limited supply of club tablets are available.
The Seattle Rifle & Pistol Association volunteer crew has been busy building safety baffles for the 500-yard line. It will be a bit different up on the line, but that is the price we have to pay for urban sprawl. Hopefully it's not too chilly, but if it is we'll have the two wood stoves on the line stoked up!
We are working on the remaining schedule. If everything goes as planned, we will look to host matches the 2nd Saturday of each month going forward. Stay tuned to the calendar for details
See the High Power page for more information.
Congratulations to Slade for breaking his first 25 straight targets on Saturday!
Congratulations to Tom for breaking his first 25 straight targets on Saturday!
Congratulations to Eric for breaking his first 25 straight targets on Saturday!
Our volunteers are hard at work bringing the range baffle project to completion. The project isn't quite ready yet, but I thought I share some pictures of the work and the progress so far to give us all a little something to look forward to when the range reopens soon.
Once you walk out past the new baffles to set or retrieve your target, the wonderful natural beauty of the range setting remains undisturbed.
Due to the continued low Rifle and Pistol Range usage tied to the COVID-19 outbreak and the spikes in new cases, it has been decided to take advantage of the situation and CLOSE THE RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGES for an estimated 6 weeks in order to perform some major range upgrades and maintenance items that can not be accomplished with the range being open.
There may be opportunities to perform some work hours during these projects.
If you are interested in possibly helping, please forward me your Name and phone number.
You will be contacted when opportunities arise.
This decision comes with the support of the entire Board of Directors and Officers of the Club.
This closure is estimated to be 6 weeks in duration. If the work is completed sooner, the range will reopen earlier.
There is no good time to close the range however by taking advantage of the low usage and with the virus resurgence, it makes sense to perform this work now.
Shotgun and Archery will remain open on their current schedules.
If you have any comments, please direct the to me directly.
Thank you for your understanding and support during these times.
Regards, Randy Doucet, President Seattle Rifle & Pistol Association president@seattlerifle.org
Due to the continuing concerns and restrictions being placed on many segments of our daily lives concerning the COVID-19 Virus, Seattle Rifle and Pistol is CANCELLING ALL organized matches and ALL events that allow the public to use our range until April 30, 2020.
Shotgun's normal Friday and Saturday schedule will also be cancelled/suspended until April 30, 2020.
The range will remain open to MEMBERS and their GUESTS only.
It is very important that we do our absolute best to follow the guidelines that have been laid out by our State and Federal health authorities.
Please be aware of your surroundings and for example if you show up to the range and a group of people (8-10) are there shooting, consider coming back at a later time.
This is not an easy thing to manage as a club and we are therefore relying on our members to assist us in using good judgement.
I have included an information summary from the Department of Health that covers the main points to pay close attention to during this COVID-19 outbreak.
Please keep in mind that I have talked to all of the Board Members and Officers of Seattle Rifle and Pistol and they have been given the authority to close the range at anytime if a situation develops that they feel is contrary to the best interest of the club operations.
We are continually monitoring the situation for any changes and/or directives from our government officials.
Any changes to the above "policy" will be communicated to the members as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support during these difficult times.
Regards,
Randy Doucet, President
